1 question, OP. How'd you get a 2.13Ghz MBA without an SSD?
I don't think they ever made those models, did they? The late-2008 models did not have the 2.13Ghz processor (as it wasn't released by Intel yet) and any mid-2009 2.13Ghz models would have had an SSD in them by default.
Now it's highly possible that the SSD in your MBA is slower than the SSD in the new MBAs.
As the MBAs in 2009-mid-2010 came with Samsung SSDs (Noted in Disk Utility with the "APPLE SSD SM128" designator).
But after about June 2010, until the new models were released in October, the MBAs shipped with new SSDs, made by Toshiba (same speed as the ones that are BTO-able in the MBPs). Those are much faster than the Samsung models, and almost as fast as the SSDs in the late-2010 MBAs. Those read "APPLE SSD TS128b" in Disk Utility.
